Advice, please - gas engineers
|
If that's what you call yourselves. :-)
Hello.
I am going to order a gas cooker online. Current rubbish, malfunctioning one is electric. There are capped off metal pipes in the dedicated cooker space. I've never had a gas cooker installed here before. I assume at least one pipe is for gas. I've been told in the past that they're for gas cookers so I'm confident they're not for water or anything else.
I will be paying for installation as well.
The pipe caps are flat/smooth.
Will I need to get different cappy things for the installation, or can they just connect the cooker after they remove the current flat caps? I want to avoid a situation where they turn up and can't install because we don't have the correct connectors or whatever.
Many thanks for sensible replies.
Arf! in advance @ silly/rude replies.

But not nearly as funny as the irony of Ratched getting her gas oven fitted by some Jam Roll plumbers going wooooooosh over your head, ED

Ducky, I can live without that. Fan ovens aren't great for baking, anyway. Prefer conventional ovens.

Was that a stab at humour?
Stick to the hard man routine, it's much funnier.

Yes.
Do suggest they wear blue-striped pyjamas, shave their heads and chuck some lice-power at them. Then motivate further with your ideas about what their grannies did to please the Waffen SS.
Let us know how it went.

Do you really want to discard the opportunity of a FAN asssised oven ?

No, I will be issuing them with breath mints and hosing them down with a pressure washer and soap before I let them in.

Thanks Willy. Yes, I'll be paying for installation from the same company which is why I'm not worried about the safety aspect.
I think I might get the bayonet hose just in case.

Yes, when Bogdan and Andziej from the company rock up at your drum, will you be offering them a nice cup of tea?

Nurse - if you are paying for installation from the company providing you with the cooker, then they will turn up with everything that they need to connect it up. Depending upon the cooker depends upon whether the gas pipe and bayonet fitting should be behind the cooker or just to the side. If the pipe needs moving, they will normally move it included in the installation charge.

To be fair, it was a game of two halves.
If the second had been like the first, it would've been 4-0 (and we would've been worthy of it, too)
